“We are philosophers – not in words – but in deeds. We do not speak great things; we live them.” – Cyprian

Who We Are

We are a small group of believers committed to following Jesus. We come from diverse backgrounds – one of our members grew up Lutheran, another Catholic, and others were Baptist or evangelical. The one thing we all have in common is that our lives were changed when we read the writings of the early Christians.

Live Great Things represents thousands of hours of research and writing, as we read the writings of the people who lived immediately after the apostles, and compiled their teachings. Interestingly, we found that their teachings were nothing new – they were based on a simple, literal reading of Scripture. They did not have complicated doctrinal systems, commentaries, or devotional books. They simply read the Bible and did what it said, and they taught us that we could do the same. They lived simple, quiet, and unadorned lives; but the light of Jesus Christ shone brightly as these believers lived and died for their faith.

The purpose of Live Great Things is to make the views and writings of the early Christians accessible to the average person. We hope that you will learn something new, thought-provoking, and even life-changing from their writings. Maybe you will end up disagreeing with their views, but at least you will know what they believed. Maybe you will agree in some areas and consider their views in others. Or maybe you will be so challenged by these heroes of the faith that you will make significant changes in your life.

Whatever you decide, we hope that the lives and writings of these believers will inspire you to live great things.
